Frozenonthesea reporting with this new Project. Project Pep Talks, to inspire, help, give guidance, and all around help struggling writers, digital artists, all mediums of art. This project will require people who are willing to jump on board with writing a weekly Pep talk on one of the many categories for struggling artists who need that boost that the Pep talks give.
This idea was inspired by NaNoWriMo Pep talks that you get emailed, or you see posted. I know that with NaNoWriMo its just once a year, with this it would be inspiring to have it all year round if people could spare that time to take a look and write a Pep talk out. It gave me a boost, and many others boosts. So let's start something here.
Now the first that I will write is about writing, as it is my medium.
If anyone wants to contact me about this, send me a note or comment here, or on my page. Consider the idea, put yourself back in the place where you were once stuck and convinced that you were no good and going to give up.
"Hello all writers,
Whether you are a first time writer with plans to be published, or you are a already well known writer; you will hit that wall, where you feel your characters, plot, everything is just a waste, and you will want to delete it, or throw it into the rubbish bin. Don't, because what you might hate, another might love. Think if you threw out a work that could have saved a life, how would that make you feel than? I would feel awful. Now while some things are honestly rubbish like this 'Mary dated Harry until they were in college, they got married and had lots of children' you shouldn't throw it away. Keep it as a reminder, you want to be a better writer than that, come back to it years later and look at your newest works, and think of how well you have done.
Writing can be a chore, or a pain, during NaNo I learned that, and I got very behind, and I had to use dirty methods to catch up and win, but beyond that, I learned a lot, now while it may not be the thing for everyone; before you write, have a plot set up. Yes writing little snippets like 'Terry fell in love during high school, he fell out of love during college.' Every little bit counts, and every little bit adds just a little more plot. But down and serious writing needs a plot, if you are like me. If you are gifted where you can write easily without a plot, good for you guys who can.
I urge you, no matter how small the amount is, write a little bit everyday, there are many great resources, and many great people you could probably ask for ideas, or bounce ideas off of. Remember, try to be like a snowflake, make your story like one.
Another good thing to do is keep an idea notebook with you at all times, during church, bring one to soccer practice, keep one in the car while your driving, take one to the lodge you are staying at for skiing, anywhere! The notebook is just solely for story ideas though, it is a challenge not to write a different idea in there. I have two notebooks, one for story ideas, and one for poems and songs. Try doing that. Or mix it together.
Use index cards, a binder, a few folders, pens, pencils and lined paper, and write things on the index cards, and than organize them with like 'dialogues' under 'characters'. I just started today, but I think it will be a great help.
Now while I have barely succeeded in NaNo, and I am just a teenage writer, maybe I am wrong about this all, but try my ideas a little bit.
Items you will need: Patience, pens, pencils, notebooks, folders, binders, index cards, lined papers, and not to throw out anything you write.
Keep all the scraps that you think are no good, one day you might hit that wall and think, what did I do with that paper, maybe it could help me now, and than come to remember its long gone."
