Five hundred seasons ago, the god Ahanu, Called He-Who-Laughs, disappeared from Chivell Foxhome.
It is said that his spirit, along with the spirits of his kin, dwell in the center of the forest. This, however, has long been considered a myth.
Now, out of the desert, a stranger has come. He brings life with his breath and death with his footsteps, and wears color in his fur. He brings with him his kin, who are far greater than any seen since before time was measured. He says he is Ahanu, Called He-Who-Laughs, and performs little miracles for the citizens of Chivell Foxhome.
There is much dispute. Many foxes feel that he is indeed their lost god, come back to all of them to lead them to the promised land beyond the desert.
Many others, however, believe that this newcomer is a heathen, a falsifier who will lead Chivell Foxhome to nothing but its doom. They have spoken out, and vehemently, against both the newcomer and against those who believe him.
The final faction are those that came with the New Ahanu, who weave magic with their voices and, like him, wear color in their fur. They have mingled with the foxes of Chivell Foxhome, to varying levels of welcome or animosity, and are making a life for themselves in the forest. They promise to protect any who will follow them across the desert, but at the same time, they do not offer any proof of what lies beyond.
Unrest is growing, and the unbelievers are the first to say that the true god Ahanu, Called He-Who-Laughs, would not bring unrest, for it was he who did away with it all those generations ago.
War is coming, and coming fast. If a resolution is not made within the next few mooncycles, the unrest will reach a peak, and war will begin for the first time in over twenty-five generations. Chivell Foxhome is not ready for this, but it's happening.
Everything hinges on one gaudy traveler and his gang of trickster gods-- for, with or without them, chaos will surely ensue.
So whose side are you on?
Are you one who, after generations without a god, is willing to once again believe in paradise?
Are you a skeptic, who only wants what's best for your friends and family?
Or are you one of the Ones With Open Eyes, who follow the god Ahanu, Called He-Who-Laughs, and who bring magic with their voices and nightmares with their eyes?
Whichever you choose, these certainly aren't your usual suspects.
